In this edition of Ride My Domain, we caught up with the Terra Sports bike crew whose shop in downtown Coeur d’Alene is minutes from the lake and regional trailheads. New owner Alex Castagno, has transformed the business into an all-inclusive bike shop catering to any cyclist’s needs at any skill level. To add to their biking options, Alex and shop employee Chris Caro recently put their heads and shovels together and built a pump track in Alex’s back yard, and according to Alex: “It’s pretty RAD.” In addition, Terra Sports was named the number one dealer in the country for sales of the Cannondale Jekyll in 2012 and is on track to beat their record in 2013. With world-class trails on Canfield Mountain, a short 5 minutes from the shop, there is no wondering why the Jekyll is so popular around here. Terra Sports is now working together with the bike park at nearby Silver Mountain Resort in order to ensure and promote a great bike scene in North Idaho.
After the first 3 races in Port Angeles, the North West Cup moves to Mt. Hood Ski bowl which is definitely one of the gnarliest tracks in the circuit. Filled with sharp rocks, white knuckle speeds, and an absolutely gorgeous view of Mt. Hood. This year, it rained on the first day of practice, was beautiful on Saturday, and in true NW fashion rained just before the race runs went down! As a matter of fact this same thing happened last year at round 1 of the Ski Bowl race.
Here is a great video showcases the course, the gnar-factor, and of course the amazing riders the NWCup brings out! Gravity’s favorite MC and all around nice guy Mike Estes has some choice in the upper section of the course at 0:40.
It’s been a busy month for Gravity’s Mike Hopkins. He’s been filming for video projects, scoring the cover of DIRT MAG, and doing multiple magazine stories. This kid is on fire, so check him out!
Also, Mike’s had his hands in some pretty rad video projects to be featured at Crankworx next month in Whistler…
The Sea Otter Classic has historically been thought of as the “Official Kickoff” of the cycling season. Taking place in Mid-April each year, the event draws thousands of spectators, vendors, athletes, and media attendees. This year, The Sea Otter Classic greeted nearly perfect weather, enthusiastic consumers, and many top notch industry companies from around the globe.
The Gravity Components booth was located in the main sponsor area of the event. The site drew hundreds of visitors in to the booth to check out all the new offerings from Gravity’s top Freeride, DH, and All Mountain / Enduro lines. The biggest buzz could be heard surrounding Gravity’s new Gradient Carbon Enduro products.
