Win a Whistler Weekend at Bear Back Biking
Would you like a free weekend of riding at Whistler Bike Park? Need a sweet place to stay? Want a hot meal after a long day at the park? Maybe a hot tub to cap it all off? Then this is contest for you!
All you have to do is write a short paragraph in the comment section of this page explaining why you and a guest should win a free stay at the infamous Bear Back Biking Chalet, just 1 mile from Whistler Village. You and lucky friend could be shredding in style this September for Gravity and Bear Back Biking’s “Whistler Weekend” giveaway.
Bear Back Biking (Website, Facebook) has been running their Whistler Mountain Bike Chalet since 2000. Their main package dubbed “The Whistler Experience” is a catered, guided, week long mountain biking holiday package based in a luxury chalet near the shores of Alta Lake, a short ride from the village, bike park and Whistler’s trail network.

Bear Back’s guides are fully kitted out with top of the line Gravity Light Components and offer some of the best coaching available. They will help you better your cornering, dropping, jumping, and psyche you up to ride everyday. Whether it is Cross Country, Down Hill, Dirt Jumping, working on your bike, or just plain old chillin’ at the Chalet after a long day, the guides will always make you feel comfortable.

In addition to their amazing Chalet, they guys at Bear Back have all the tools you need to service your ride.
So write your best reasons for us to select you as the winner in the comment section below, and get ready for the trip of lifetime!

I would like to win the trip because i havnt ridden a real Downhill bike trail ive only ridden hiking trails that are not as fun. i really would like to ride in any place in canada but ive been looking at whistler for a while now. this would be great because my friend and i dont have the money to take a trip to canada to go biking so im taking this oppertunity to have a free trip and have an experience of a lifetime for the both of us. please take a moment to consider me and my friend.

I think I’m worthy of this vacation so you don’t need to read the others!!!! I want to to win this trip so I can take my girlfriend out to Whistler and increase her skills and confidence 10 fold. I just got her into downhill last year and have got her enrolled in a few classes for the summer. There is no denying that a week in Whistler would do wonders for her riding (as well as mine) and of course theres no way to beat downhill riding than at Whistler while hucking with Gravity while defying gravity.
Ride hard and fast
Jason
When I go up to Whistler, I rough it. Hot tubs, warm beds and cable television are out of the budget. A lonely uncomfortable sleep in my car, or a long drive home are the two options I’m generally met with. If I were to win this opportunity to stay at the Bear Back Biking Chalet with a friend, it may ruin me for future trips, but it would be an amazing opportunity to wind down after a long day in the bike park. Following it with another day of shredding pretty much makes Gravity and Bear Back Biking’s “Whistler Weekend” giveaway the most desirable thing around.
Both my friend and I suffer from acute wannaheadtabeesee-itis. Unfortunately the only cure, or so I’m told from those who’ve suffered this awful disease in the past, is to meet a shaman who knows the symptoms of the disease (unnecessary use of the word “loamy” and “gnarly”, acute emotional shame in groups of riders who’ve visited Whistler, and excessive internet stalking of videos titled “Whistler Edit”) who can diagnose and then, through gnarly shredding of loamy terrain (sorry, I’m stage 3 so I can stop using the words), can heal us. We, however, are poor individuals who cannot afford to travel to the land of these wise sages and so we humbly request that you aid us in curing this most awful of diseases. Thank you for your time and God bless.
Having my local resort of Mt. Washington getting well over 600 cm of snow base this past ski season (and the most in the world a few years back), me and my friends are facing a long and painful wait to see or bike park open, and the snow just won’t for the love of god melt. I deserve to win this trip to Whistler because i think as fellow riders would agree, being stuck inside with nowhere else to ride absolutely sucks. No license or car, an empty wallet and stubborn parents. The pain is just getting too much. I would give up the next 50 Christmas’ and all my Thanksgiving turkey to be able to go to Whistler for a week to shred with a bud, and get off this darn computer, wipe the cobwebs off my bike and have an epic time. Please Gravity, let the suffering stop!!
I have only been to wistler once and it was with one of my friends and his famaly. We got to stay in a ok hotel but there was rilly nothing amasing about it. The only bikes we had were the bikes that we had from when we were 8 and they were some terable. So we rented some bikes that felt amasing for going up on the mountin. That first time would be the last time for me for that trip because i broke two of my fingers and i couldn’t ride for 6 months. But i still fell in love with it and have bin craving the time and money to go back and this is the perfect oprotunity
I have never been to whistler, or evne any part in canada and i cant afford to go up there either. the best i can do as far as trails and dirtjumping are local hiking trails and local little dirt jumps, i mean how much fun is that? Not too much let me tell you. Our bikes dont even get used much as we dont ride downhill all that much. If i were to win the trip for me and a friend to whistler we would have the times of our lives riding downhill and even staying and hanging out with new people and making new friends. It would be an experience of a liftime!
The last summer I went to whistler it was a feeling like I was riding in a heaven in the mountains. I loved how I could shred for the day , yet miss it for years to come . I would love to be there with one of my best friends that has never been but it is one of his dreams to go shred the park. I would love to be there this summer shredding aline, heart of darkness, fright train and all the trails that to me, seemed I was shredding them yesterday. This trip would be like another Christmas learning from the coaches, the beautiful chalet and just the best bike park to ride ! I would love to earn this trip.
Thanks
Dillon
You should pick me and my friend Bryce because we are from MD and have never had the chance to experience a place like whistler. I work hard and as much as I can to save money for college and have no vacations planned this summer. I am always respectful, I have been called a mensch twice and I’m not even jewish. I think I’m a pretty good guy and am deserving of this. I watch videos of whistler everyday and dream about charging down it. Also I’m like fully torqued with good karma right now because last night I gave my seat on the metro away like 50 times both to and from DC for the fireworks. btw God just told me to tell you to choose me.. can’t really argue that.
Well, the guy above has been to whistler.. i haven’t. I just graduated and i think if i see another whistler edit on pinkbike or anywhere for that matter i might go into depression. Its been my dream to ride whistler and to shred down a line and crabapple hits. If i had the money id fly to whistler right now but i don’t so this is why im entering this contest and hoping to get picked. I have rode bikes my whole life and i think i deserve it. Im also from and live in Ontario so our mountains are jokes compared to whistler so id love to ride a real mountain. Gravity, please pick me <3
Simply put, I do not get to vacation much and have never been to such a place. A place of epic runs among a grand forest. Led by those that can make be a better rider. Though I feel I am rather an accomplished rider I think nobody else would learn as much as I. Armed with an arsenal of GoPros to share this epic journey, I would show the world this wonderful trip. One of true passion and enjoyment. A trip full if ripping in the brown pow! But such a trip would not be as fun unless you can bring somebody to share it with, a spiritual bonding experience of slicing berms and sailing among the trees of Whistler. Hearing our tires buzz the wooden planks of the hand made features. Bring to the end of a day full of true camaraderie as we look over and edit video, tell wild stories of the jump that got away. To give this “Whistler Weekend” to such a sole would make his lifetime that much more fulfilled and his passion for riding just that more complete. Making his dream come true!
When riding on a budget, Whistler can seem like the Mecca unreachable. Between the 12 hour drive and other expenses associated with our fine sport, a place like whistler can seem just out of reach. If I was to win this awesome prize I would have to take my friend Chris. After helping push him to get a bike a few years ago, this extreme skier took to biking like a duck to water. Not only is he faster than me, his mechanical knowledge has also surpassed me on these two wheeled machines. FRUSTRATING. This trip could be the chance I need to prove my worth and BLAST by him on this magical “A-Line” I have heard so much about…
When I first rode DH off china peak last year I knew that dh was my sport. I olny raced once but riding is Very great fun. If i were able to go to wistler park i’ shred the crap out of wistler. I hope that i win so that I can ride to help future when im 18 i’ll be sponserd P.S im olny 11 and a half
The reason why I think that I deserve this trip not only of a life time but of the history of fooking time is because I’m a bike rider. Riding my bike is the number one thing in my life since I purchased it, that means spending money on parts for my bike, or putting gas money in my car to shuttle with my boys so that we can put laps in, instead of saving my money to put food in my keg of a belly or to even pay my rent. Also I think I deserve this trip because this is my first year riding downhill and would give an arm to just be able to pay for the chance to ride with actual guides that will help make me better at biking. Winning this trip would not only be the best thing to ever happen to me, but it would be the best thing to ever happen to my one of my riding buddies. So please pick me for this trip!
I have never had the opportunity to make a trip to whistler. But that sure doesnt make me less of a rider than anyone else on 2 wheels. I wake up everymorning and watch videos of whistler and all of those beautiful north shore trails. From there it’s now time to get out to the jumps or get out to the local cross country trails, you gotta do with what you got sometimes. If someway and somehow this dream were to come true it would make it a reality to ride some of the worlds best trails, and have a great time with the ladys and gents from Bear Back Biking! A weekend like this would truly make it for me and a friend whom has also never had the chance to make it out to whistler. Remember it’s not about the bike, its about the good times and memories it will bring you. Thanks for checking out my paragraph on why I should win!
I grew up in the apple capital of Nova Scotia, surrounded by farmland. I was lucky enough to be in the valley, with a “mountain” on either side, North and South, which gave my friends and I the opportunity to build and ride 5 minute trails from top to bottom. We thought it was the best thing since sliced bread! I graduated high school and had an itch for bigger adventures, so I moved to North Vancouver to study Adventure Tourism with Capilano U, where I met great friends who shared the same passion and desires I did. They introduced me to real mountains, old growth forests, and a lifestyle I will never leave. I live in Jasper Alberta as a White-Water raft guide now. Since we are in a National Park, when we want to ride fast, we climb… An hour of climbing for maybe a solid 20 minutes of down! I have never ridden anything that I haven’t had to work for myself, which feels great, but that means I’ve never experienced what the amazing Whistler bike park has to offer other than in the videos I watch everyday on Pinkbike. I have never even been on a legit DH bike. Sad isn’t it! I know exactly who I would bring with me if I won this competition, my role model, my best friend, and the man who taught me how to ride my bike, my dad!! I don’t think he would ever go back to NS, (haha)! Thank you Gravity and Bear Back Biking Chalet for giving everyone the opportunity of a lifetime with this giveaway!
I have tried to plan a trip to Whistler with my ridding friends for 5 years now, however there is always something else.
This february I had a son, and money is now very tight. So I still get out to ride all the local trails but I don’t think I will get the chance to ever ride whistler with my friends. let alone stay at such an amazing Chalet like Bear Back Biking.
My son is only 5 months old now and I already have a runner bike for him. maybe someday I will ride whistler with him.
I am 14 and have just started mt biking in the last couple of years and have always wanted to go to whistler but, my family always has other plans and does not want to go all the way to BC and pay for my whole family to ride. I have looked into everywhere for some sort of way to go to whistler and ride, camps are expensive and as i said before my it would cost a lot for a whole family to go up and ride. Winning this prize would be a great opportunity for just me and my dad to go up and ride together. Thank you for the opportunity to win such a great prize!
So a buddy of mine got me into downhill mountain biking a few years back in college. Since then I have absolutely grown to love the sport and am always talking with him about how we need to “make a trip to Whistler one day when we can afford to”. Well, having both “grown up” a little, gotten married and working, it has become a lot more difficult to make it happen. Although I may be able to in the not to distant future, my buddy recently started a non-profit business and just couldn’t afford to do it. It would be an amazing way to pay him back for introducing me to such an amazing sport if I were to tell him that we had a gnarly place to stay and an opportunity to ride with the amazing riders from Gravity and Bear Back Biking. That just might be the push that we need to make this a routine trip like we once said we would.
I would love to be able to stay here. I have never been to an official bike park like this before. My Dad and I had talked about taking a trip to a bike park. It would be an amazing opportunity for him and me to do this. Theres no trails in my town that are that fun to ride and the ones that are fun are short, so to be able to go on a trip and ride real trails would me amazing. Theres not much to say. I would love this opportunity for my dad and me. Thanks for reading.
Would love the opportunity for a friend and I to come ride Whistler. We had been planning a trip here with a few friends this summer before life got in the way and the trip fell apart. Gas prices aren’t dropping any quicker for the two of us to make the 24 hour drive to get there. Not sure if the car would have made it anyways, but one could only hope. If it doesn’t happen this year, it will happen in the future as Whistler is on the list of “must see” places. Would there be any better way to see it though? Would love to do laps in the park and relax afterwards with a good meal and wake up to do it all over again. A Line is calling our names, would love to make this dream a reality.
I have been riding for the past 3 years since I was eleven my parents refuse to take me anywhere too far as it is costly and neither ride themselves, this opportunity would mean that i would be able to go out and show my dad what he is missing out on and i aim at enticing him into biking as this will give me an opportunity to increase my riding skills beyond what simple riders have. I am a dedicated fan of yours and read many biking mags. dreaming of the places i could go if i had the money! I keep myself awake most nights thinking of new bikes, imagining me doing some biking away from home! thanks for your time!
Richard
Iam a stupid guy from the north of germany , since there is no mountains in my area and
becaus iam that stupid and my gramma is to bad to write a awsome story
i hope i Win !!! for me and my brother thx
Good luck for all you guys
If I won, I would take my buddy riley. We have been planning out a trip to whistler for some time now, thinking we should try to bum it in the truck since a place to stay is out of budget. In the mean time, we ride up in alaska at out only lift access mountain that in only in it’s second year of operation. We have never experienced the community that is at whistler, only have heard countless stories. We would love to get up there and shred, and this giveaway is such a great idea. If we don’t win, hopefully we will make a trip down there!
My friends and I love to ride the local trails, but we are starting to out grow them. The closest downhill park to me is over two hours away and costs over $50 for one day. My parents would never pay or drive me there. Not only that, but our local dirtjumps were just wrecked by a bunch of motocross riders and its gonna take a while to return them to their former glory, who knows if the jumps will be wrecked again. I don’t want this to sound like a sob story, but I believe i could really grow as a rider here. I have never been afraid to push my self to try newer harder things, and quite frankly I;m running out of ways to push my self. A weekend in whistler is a dream. I know that I probably won’t win, but It’s worth giving it a shot. I just want to congratulate whoever wins this and hope they have a great time. If I were to win it would be a dream come true. I love the park and I want to just say that the staff does an amazing job of upkeep! Ride on!

For the last couple of months me and my friends have been trying to scrap a few extra bucks here and there and save them so we can go to Whistler for a weekend. The thing that is completely screwing up our plans is our age. We are 15 and we cannot pay for a hotel because of our age and our parents are not willing to bring us up there and either camp or hotel with us. Biking is our greatest passion and getting to Whistler would be the most amazing f opportunity if our lives. Plea1se gravity could you send us to Whistler and make our passion that much stronger.
i would love to have to opportunity to go ride whistler, i live on the rugged coast line of the east coast of newfoundland and always dream of getting the chance to go the other side of the country and shred bike parks. i could get as many runs in a day there as to what i can do in a full season here without any sort of shuttle to the top so i would also progress exponientatly as a rider!
I’m 15 and started biking 6 months ago, i just got my first downhill bike witch is a Scott gambler. I am in love with the thing,
I only have one place to ride witch is local, i am starting to get into races but need more training but don’t have the places to train, if i had the chance to ride whistler it would be amazing. thanks for the amazing comp.
Thanks for reading.
Well, I have never been to Whistler and my family cannot afford it. I love Mountain Biking through my heart, and we spent most my earnings and alot of my dad’s for my new bike (first downhill Mountain bike). It would be an amazing gift if I could get this gift. None my friends really Bike so I guess its just going to be my mom and I. For me, it would be the story I would tell my grandchildren, so amazing that explaining to someone would be impossible.Biking is my true passion and I want to do it all my life. I know a free trip to Whistler is Good to many but to me it is more than any words can describe. If you would do this for me it would be… amazing.
I have been riding downhill for a few years now all thanks to my dad. He got me into the sport at the age of 15 after I rode a year with him at xc. He then helped me to buy my first downhill bike and then supported me as i got more into the sport. The downhill trails in the uk are good, but most of the ones with uplifts are a few hours away from me, so I rely on friends or my dad to drive me. Seeing videos and pictures of whistler and British Columbia it justs looks amazing, the trails just look so perfect with long flowing single track, jumps and drops it would be mind blowing to ride. As my dad is in his late 50s now and still riding I would love to be able to give something back to him by taking him on a once in a lifetime trip to British Columbia and ride with him on some of the world class trails with help for the guides who could further improve both our skills on the bikes. Thanks for giving me this opportunity.
A few years ago, my firend and I went to the only local miniature ski hill for mountain biking. It wasnt anything special in other peoples eyes, but for me it was the funnest single day of my life. I loved trying to go faster and going out of my comfort zone. Unfortunatly they closed the ski hill down in the summer, and now the only place we can ride are some short XC trails. All that goes through my head on most occasions in mountain biking, and how much i want to be on my bike now. I dream about spending a weekend in Whistler, but my parents dont have the time or money to take us. this will be my only chance to go to Whistler for atleast a few years, and i really apreciate this opprotunity.
Thank you
Thomas
I am a 14 year old chap who lives in a small a village in gloustershire I am planning on going to whistler when I am 18 and have been saving for 2 years since I was twelve but have been a bit side tracked on buying a new frame and new forks and shinazzle like that I would love to stay in this paradise as I have a passion for biking and am only really having fun when doing it SO IF U COULD POCK ME IT WOULD BE AWESOME. cheers joe
i should win this contest because i need to go to whistler, it is a want but a big need just so i and a friend can throw down some British steezyness in big BC plus i have a Scott voltage so it kind of need to go whistler to give it something to do, so just post the tickets to my house,
cheers (ow, i want to see how many bears i can jump over in a day)
Hi there… My buddy’s and I (ages14-15) have been riding for about a year or two now, and we love it… we ride every single day no matter what the conditions. We go up to the bike park park every once in a while, (which is a 3-4 hour drive), but the park is nothing compared to whistler… (From what I’ve seen, on pinkbike, vital, etc…) we don’t have very many trails near our homes, aside from the trails that we build, and a few xc trails, but we make due. most of the decent trails around our area are about 45 mins away, a bit far for us considering we cant drive… But when we do go, it’s pretty goddamn fun!!!!! Lately we have been hitting the biggest stuff around the area, and it’s starting to feel a bit, well, small… we’ve been talking about how sweet it would be to go hit the crabapple hits, throw whips and tables on a-line. But for now it’s slightly out of our reach. Then I heard about this contest. and here i am now writing this entry. I hope to learn some use full stuff if I where to win, I think that it would defanitly make me progress more as a rider, maybe even as a person… I don’t know… I think I would just be super stoked to be there! Thanks for taking the time to read!
I live in the state of ohio… And for those of you who dont know… Its flat, i mean really flat. My buddies and i have been riding DH for about four years now and have been progressing each year. Theres almost nothing near us to ride. The closest bike park is 3 hours away and good ones are 6 hours away. I feel if given the oppritunity to ride whistler we could progress our riding even more… Maybe even decide to move there! So please… Help a couple of guys in one of the flattest states out there get some really shredding in!!!!! Thanks so much
Why should I win this trip? One word: Legend ‘wait for it’ dairy. Whistler is know to be one of the best bike parks of all time. Personally its one of my favorite bike parks…to watch videos of. See, I live on the east coast the biggest downhill track we have is about a quarter mile and a paved walking trail in the middle. After successfully riding down this hill you have to take a very hot ride back up for about a 60 second ride down. Needless to say its not much and a trip to Whistler would be quite a refreshing change.
Why should Victor and I win this trip? Out of all the entries you might be receiving and having to read what makes us so special from the rest? Not much really, we’re all coming for the same thing. To shred hard and learn as much as we can from a possible once in a lifetime experience. Okay maybe others get to do this more often, but for my friend and I this is a rarity. We are international students, I from California and him from Mexico. We are often tossed into situations we don’t always like, but biking is what gets us through it all. Riding together makes everything better. The town we live in here in northern Germany has absolutely no trails and the nearest bike park is 3 hours by train and angry bus driver away (Emphasis on angry bus driver). Don’t even get us started on the pricing for transport since we have no access to automobiles. Despite this for the past year we have made several pilgrimages to bike parks no matter the cost (at least once a month excluding the winter). We strive to push one another to go faster and faster making as much progress in the limited space and time we have. God knows these parks need bigger jumps. Thats why I ask you to grant us this opportunity to ride the best park in the world as bros! If you’re not sold yet on granting us this honorable prize then heres my final argument. My friend Victor, the only friend I have in this town who rides Dh/Fr is being forced to move to Moscow in a matter of weeks. Sure I’ll continue riding without him, but honestly, I cannot fathom the thought of attending school let alone hopping on a bike and hitting the parks without my broheim. Words cannot describe how incredible it would be to ride whistler with him. Maybe not this season, but eventually.
If you’ve read this far then thats at least something. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a window to look out of (into the rain) procrastinating my homework.
It’ll just be the most amazing week I could ever want or need in my life !! I Love Downhill, I’d love to ride Whistler.
A dream bike park
Nuff said !!!
Hi I’m George and I’m 15 years old. I should win this once in a lifetime trip, and experience Whistler with its finest because, I live in England and the riding and weather where I live is shit! I need a change and fast, my motivation for this sport that I so dearly love, is slowly slipping away, day by day as we’re in the middle of summer and guess what?? Still rain! Everyday I log onto Pinkbike and sit for hours drooling over videos of people having fun in bike Mekah. ‘If only I lived there or had some money, I could experience heaven’. Also if the world really does end in 2012 there’s no way I’ll get to go to Whistler before it and I get screwed over by enormous waves or gigantic cracks in the floor. Now just give me a chance and you could progress me and my best mates riding so much, show us the times of our lives and give us a memory neither of us would ever forget.
Thank You.
I wanna go because people say that it is the best times you can have on a bike and it looks sick, besides…If It’s free, it’s for me
its always been a dream of mine to go to canada, especially to whisler to mountain bike. me and y dad have allways dreamt to go. i love the sound of it from the amazing riding just down to views. its all part of the experience and would be a dream come true to ride there. It would be a fantastic opertunity ofr me and my dad to build skills especially as there are no local trails where i live.
I once saw a movie called “Brokeback Mountain”.
Thought I was going to see a mtb movie…
So, if I win I’ll be able to do the movie I wish I had seen: Bear Back Mountain.
A movie about two friends who have fun together riding … their bikes.
When it comes to going out riding, my dad is my best friend (Flipping fast for a 52 years old!). I have cycled all my life (17 years) (as has my dad), and I properly got into mountain biking around 3 years ago on a weekend away with my mum at Whinlatter forest in the Lake District. I had never really been mountain biking properly, but as soon as we had done the first run (blue), I felt so exhilarated that I insisted we both did one of the red runs – I was hooked. I loved it.
The only problem with my enthusiasm was that I never really had the bike to take me where I wanted to go. And coming from a family of six, who all do music (I play the cello, double bass, piano, a little guitar and I sing), I wasn’t about to be treated to a spanking new bike! I therefore taught myself how to maintain, build and fix bikes. I started off fixing my own, then I got a little more in detail, and as I built up the confidence, I started to fix my friends bikes too. Eventually, I was able to maintain, fix and build bikes to a professional standard, so I set up my own website. I earned enough money eventually to buy myself a proper bike! I was so over the moon with my new (second hand) bike (Giant NRS XTC) that I just wanted to ride all the time! I got more confident riding that I would start to ride bigger and more technical trails, until eventually I was riding full DH and FR trails on a bike with 80mm travel! I kept raising money however until eventually, I was offered a swap (along with some cash) from one of my customers for a Downhill bike…I almost collapsed with joy!
I accepted the swap, and have ever since been building the bike up gradually, and now it is a fully capable DH rig. I built my mum a 29er, which she loves and my dad a trail bike, which he blasts down the local trails with! We travel around to the local trials and to a few trail centers in the UK (which I have on occasion persuaded the whole family to come to!). However, I am constantly shouting my dad to “come and have a look at this” or “check this out!” on the computer. Although sometimes reluctant, he always comes and sits with me as we scroll though the thousands of videos on the internet of incredible riders usually cycling around the US and Canada (and usually Whistler). He said that he would love to take me, but the family funds just don’t allow it. This would be a dream come true for me and my dad, and I can’t think of a better way to spend some quality time with my dad than having a great time in Whistler on the weekend of a lifetime!
I would love to shred at an official bike park! I never have before! All I do is bike and practice trails and various stunts! I have a gravity bash guard! its great! My sprockets would have been so mangled without it! thanks team gravity!
A’right, I’m will, I’m 16 and I reckon a trip to Canada would be bloody good. I’ll keep away from the usual sob story, ‘I don’t have any where to ride/ I don’t have time’ blah blah blah. (I hope that doesn’t make me sound like a cynical arse). However a trip to Canada would be a mint experience. To try out world renowned trails, experience the different styles of riding and meet a ton of others all interested in a similar sport would be top notch. Riding has become a pretty big obsession of mine I do it as often as I can, I spend most of my money on it, I even got a job in the bike trade! Just to experience the different culture and attitudes toward riding would be pretty cool and to ride the trails that’d be absolutely fantastic. To end up going to whistler would be bloody brilliant, I mean who wouldn’t want to go? If sincerely hope you will take my entry into consideration, I would be very grateful Cheers, Will.
I don’t live too far from Whistler, so despite that I’ve hear this lodge is awesome that I want to stay there. I’d like to stay there for the guides. I’d bring my wife, who is new to the sport. I have 14 years of riding experience, and dozens of days at Whistler, but I’m not the greatest instructor. My wife would really benefit from an experiences guide, and I’m sure that over the course of a weekend, she could really improve her riding level, thus allowing her to have more fun on the hill. That’s what it’s all about.
After several years of riding my neighborhood trails on my hardtail, I wanted to step it up and buy a downhill bike. Unfortunately, I had a big crash skiing and I injured my knee. I tore 2 ligaments in my right knee, and that meant I had to have surgery and a 6 months rehab. I couldn’t ride for last summer at all, and I wasn’t able to work and get money to buy a new bike. I began building my own downhill trail on a hill near my home but it was frustrating me because I couldn’t ride it. But after 6 months of rehab, another ligament tear, another surgery and more months of rehab, I was finally able to buy my new bike and ride my little trail. Winning this trip would be a reward for all those ruined months of doing rehab insted of riding, and a perfect excuse to ride with one of y friends.
I would absolutely love the opportunity to win this Whistler Trip. I have recently gotten my Wife into DH riding and after a recent Crash she has been very slow to come back to riding. A trip to Whistler would help Her as well as myself find a new scene of confidence while riding and relaxing in the Amazon Whistler Atmosphere. We have never had the opportunity to take advantage of a guided experience for Mountain biking, and I am sure it would payoff huge for the both of us.
Why should I be the one? For strictly selfish reasons (that doesn’t really set me apart, right?). I’ve become a father a couple of years ago and riding has become a luxury I find time for less and less often. Navigating the tough economy has put an even deeper strain on my ability to find the time. I’ve gone from having a nice fleet of bikes to just having one. The vacations we take are now baby friendly or involve family visits. A trip to Whistler is something I won’t be able to pull off for years; unless I win a contest like this one! I would love to travel to Whistler and effectively travel back in time to my younger days when I had time to just ride! Cheers.
This trip would accomplish a couple things – be a huge first step in my recovery from a collarbone and rib injury, and also be an opportunity for my dad and I to finally ride Whistler together. My dad taught me how to ride and has been pushing me deeper into the mountain biking scene since I was 9 years old. I’m now a senior in college up in Seattle while he does all of his riding back home in California. After returned from 3 months abroad, I was itching to get back on my bike, but ended up breaking my collarbone and a few ribs on my first day out. As a result, one of the few riding trips I get to do with my dad every couple years fell through. My dad has always talked about wanting to ride Whistler and learn some of the finer points of gravity riding, but there has never been much of an opportunity due to his rigorous work schedule. I’m going to finally be able to start riding a bit again in just 2 more weeks, and this opportunity would be an awesome opportunity for my dad and I to ride Whistler for the first time together.
